About Libby Szabo

State Rep. Libby Szabo, R-Arvada, is currently serving her second term as a state legislator in the Colorado General Assembly.

Representative Szabo also serves as the House Assistant Minority Leader in the 2013 session of the Colorado General Assembly.

Libby and her husband of 29 years, Denes, are Colorado natives. They have deep roots in Jefferson County, where they have raised four children: Angel, Jessy, Nissa, and Karly.

Libby is a graduate of Wheat Ridge High School, which is in the same school district that taught her four children.

The Szabos own a family business that has been in operation for more than 40 years. As a business owner and a working mother, Libby knows what it takes to stretch a tight budget and to make ends meet, both at work and at home. Particularly with her experience in the mortgage lending and financial services industry, Libby understands the impact that public policy can have on businesses and working families.

Libby’s desire to affect tax policy and the state’s regulatory environment inspired her to run for the Colorado Legislature in 2008. She was first elected to public office in 2010 and served as the state representative for House District 27. Libby was successfully re-elected in 2012, and is proud to continue to serve the citizens of HD 27.

Libby is passionate about making a positive difference, at the state level as well as at the local level. Like many mothers, she is active in her community, coaching youth sports and volunteering at her church. Libby also has been involved in grassroots politics since she first registered to vote more than two decades ago.
